Pair of antique early 20th century WMF silver plated candlesticks
A very elegant pair of WMF Art Nouveau electro plated silver candlesticks with fluted columns and elaborate floral capitals.
With Edwardian, Art Deco and Arts and Crafts elements in their design, these are very interesting and elegant pieces which strongly evoke the turn off the twentieth century.
While the WMF is no longer present, this bears several identical features to other WMF candlesticks on the market, and we’re purchased as a set with two other WMF pieces (including the bud vases also available at the time of listing).
The German company WMF or Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, through their technological advances such as galvanisation, a new, detailed method of electro plating silver, and working with the best artists of the day, became one of the principle manufacturers of homewares of the period and one of the most highly collectable producers of Art Nouveau pieces today.
The top piece of one stick has loosened and can rotate.
They measure 18cm tall X 9cm wide and deep at the base.
