Am early 20th century medical annotated diagram with nude photographed male and female models, in a reeded wooden frame with gilt detail from the same period.

This fascinating and amusing plate originates from a medical encyclopedia.

From a little distance this appears to be a group photo of nude people in black and white, but close up we can read the annotations of a horrendously comprehensive diagnosis of illnesses and diseases and where on the body their symptoms reveal themselves. From Stomach Trouble and Hammer Toe to Floating Kidney and Phantom Tumour.

Interesting and, I’m sure, educational. A fascinating read and a great image. It is an original plate from an actual book, and not a copied print.

It has been professionally mounted on matte black in a very befitting frame.
