French flowers print of early 19th C. floral illustration, after J.L. Prevost, professionally mounted in vintage oak frame
A large, midcentury print of an early 19th century floral illustration, with a beautiful composition of pink and purple flowers, in vintage, reeded oak frame.
This beautifully executed floral illustration from which the print is made is by renowned botanical artist Jean Louis Prevost. He studied under Jean Jacque Bachelier in Paris and created one of the most exquisite French botanical works, Collection des Fleurs et des Fruits (1805) He often had his work exhibited in the Paris Salon and was a member of the Academie de Saint Luc.
