c.1920s Human heart anatomy medical diagram by Adam Rouilly of Fitzroy Square, London
Antique diagram of ‘The Healthy Heart’
A large c.1920s large Medical diagram of a heart, produced by Adam Rouilly.
Featuring a huge and detailed diagram of the most poetic of organs the human heart, this diagram was produced by there leading medical diagram and model makers Adam Rouilly, founded in 1918 and based at 18 Fitzroy Street in West London, as titled to the top right. I believe the company name is covered by the original wooden mount.
The poster which hangs on a new, thick tan colour cord, is backed with linen, which has kept the paper mostly together over its as much as a century of life. It clearly is showing wear, particularly at the bottom.
‘The Healthy Heart’ contains labelled diagrams, with their very attractive vintage typeface. Up close, the diagram takes on an otherworldly almost sci-fi aesthetic.
A wonderful and rare piece on a substantial scale.
Measures 112cm tall X 80.5cm wide at the wooden mount (84.5cm with eyelet hooks.)
