Victorian photograph of bearded gentleman in gilt oval frame

An amazing looking photographic portrait of a bearded Victorian gentleman in black suit.

The picture has degraded in places particularly around the top and left side and a bit at the bottom. This gives it a really appealing old look and an otherworldly quality.

All we know for sure about the gentleman pictured is that he was called John, according to the label to the reverse (see photo). He was thought to originate from the Bristol area.

In a large gilt, oval frame, it has its wire too the reverse for hanging.

50cm X 45cm.
