19th century Venetian wall cabinet

A wonderful 19th century Venetian wall cabinet on pedestal, with dark green paintwork, mother of pearl inlay and gold floral decoration.

Through the ornate double doors are four shelves and two drawers with tiny knobs which roll out to the front.

The cabinet can sit on its pedestal which can be attached to the wall through two brass hooks, or the cabinet can be sat directly on a table top or sideboard.

A pierced carved frieze across the top contains an oval mother of pearl lozenge to the centre.

This unique antique cabinet originated from Venice some time in the 1800s. The paint is flaking and bubbled in places. There are a couple of parts of the fragile top frieze which have broken off and been reglued. The pedestal base has a strip of decorated veneer missing revealing the wood beneath. This could be painted to fit in more closely with the other paintwork.

Total height 56.5cm X 32cm wide. Maximum overall width at the pedestal is 42cm and the depth is 15cm. The shelves are 7.5cm tall / 10.5cm at the centre of the top shelf.
