Small 19th century antique ‘crocodile skin’ copper jug
A beautiful 19th century jug by Sankey and Sons with a large spout and many decades of patina which has made the copper a very dark colour from oxidation over the years.
From the Arts and Crafts period, this jug is embossed with the crocodile skin pattern.
There is a dent towards the base of the jug, please see photos.
Sankey and Sons of Wolverhampton used the Neptune figure on the base of this jug for commercial reasons when retailers wanted a more anonymous mark.
With good, worn form and patina, this piece is great for watering your house plants, as a vase or decor for the fireplace, shelf or sideboard.
Measures 22.5cm tall and the base diameter is 13cm.
