A wonderful 19th century print of an illustration of a group of five black and yellow birds from an antique book.
The original picture was made in 1883 by German ornithological artist Jean Bungartz, in the book ‘De Vogelwereld’ published in 1886. This, the artist’s principle work made him famous for the beauty and scientific accuracy of his illustrations.
The ornate fretwork carved wooden vintage frame with its leaves pairs beautifully and fits perfectly with the birds in foliage.
Measures 44cm X 34cm including its frame.
