Vintage 1940s homemade wooden footstool

A beautiful little beech wood small footstool or drinks table dating from precisely 11th November 1943…

Scratch-built by the owner, and simple in structure and design, and with the most fantastic warm golden brown glow to the finish which had developed over the 80 odd years of life.

On the inside of the stool is written in pen H. Hickinbotham 11/11/43. In the midst of the war.

The elegant simplicity of the leg shape and the nicely curved handle in the seat make this a really attractive little stool.

I believe the top to be beech and there legs pine.

Perfect now as a rustic plant stand, stool, small coffee table beside a favourite armchair…

Also makes a nice display shelf at home or for a shop, a shoe-tying bench, or as a small side table especially for narrower spaces.

Measures 36cm wide X 21cm deep X 31cm tall.
