Three c.1920s Italian metal coffee grinders
Three c.1920s metal coffee grinders.
An attractive trio in different colours and very similar styles.
The dark brown grinder is a ‘Tre Spade’ (Three Swords) made by FB (since 1894) in Italy. It is quite possible the other two are by the same manufacturer, but work in the same way; the beans being introduced by the hopper at the top which hinges open, the base being unclipped after grinding to access the grounds.
Like many simple mechanical objects from the distant past, these still work. The orange and FB can be adjusted by the screw revealed when the base is opened, so the grounds can be made to a variety of finenesses.
Orange 10cm² X 9cm tall. 18cm total height including the handle.
F B Tre Spade 8.5cm² X 7.5cm tall. 15.5cm total height including the handle.
9cm² X 8.5cm tall. 16cm tall with handle.
Available individually or at a reduced price for the set.
