Original Antique 1920s candlestick telephone, GPO two piece telephone made 1925
An antique 1920s genuine original GPO candlestick telephone.
With its original fabric cable, Ebonite mouthpiece and black cast iron base which also contains the number, this telephone is stamped to the mouthpiece PX25 which denotes that it was made in 1925.
This would have been used in a time before dials, when you would ask the operator who you are calling and they would connect you. It would have been accompanied by an external bellset.
Measures 31.5cm tall X 14cm base diameter.
