Hand carved Welsh Lovespoon
A beautifully made traditional Welsh Lovespoon, hand carved from a lovely light Lime wood, by a gentleman in Llangadog, south west Wales.
With skillfully crafted overlapping lobes at the top a take on the good luck horseshoe, and a twist shaft, ending in a bowl from the centre of which a bulbous heart protrudes.
Traditionally carved by the man as an expression of his love, showcasing the best of his woodworking skills to show eligibility as provider to both the woman and his potential future father in law; these symbols of love have been a part of Welsh social history and tradition since at least as far back as the 17th century.
