French floral print of early 19th C. flower illustration, after J.L. Prevost in antique frame

A large, midcentury print of an early 19th century floral illustration, with a beautiful composition of yellow, pink and purple flowers, in a wonderfully ornate Victorian frame.

This beautifully executed floral illustration from which the print is made is by renowned botanical artist Jean Louis Prevost. He studied under Jean Jacques Bachelier in Paris and created one of the most exquisite French botanical works, Collection des Fleurs et des Fruits (1805) He often had his work exhibited in the Paris Salon and was a member of the Academie de Saint Luc.

The illustration shows lilies and rose.
