Fantastic large 1950s industrial BES Medical Ltd. Lamp – Converted to standard

A wonderful, quite spectacular and unique, very large 1950s medical UV and Infrared lamp made by B.E.S. Electro Medical Ltd of Bournville, England.

This has been professionally decommissioned and converted to a ‘standard’ table or desk lamp taking standard bayonet cap light bulbs. Iy has then been PAT tested and bears the pass sticker on its plug (October 2023).

The top part has a lever to release it, and holding on to the black knob at the top you can lower the angle through 90 degrees so you can direct the light exactly where you want it.

The light also looks impressive reflected onto a wall, a bit likea solar eclipse!

The base has a heavy base with a thick steel handle on top for moving it around.

There are two toggle switches, the one on the right switches the light on and off and the left turns on and off the red indicator light (which has been given a new neon bulb) when the main light is on. Originally this switched between UV and Infrared light.

With its large ribbed reflective dome this light looks great with a big ‘Edison’ bulb.

Measures 29cm in diameter at the base and depending on the angle of the shade measures 41-69cm tall. The lamp has a long 185cm, modern black cable and 3 pin plug.
