Excellent 1931 Royal Portable Typewriter, fully functional, serviced, with case
An truly wonderful Royal Portable typewriter in excellent condition, ready to use.
Dating from 1931, this superb, statement typewriter will grace your desk with dazzling 1930s style and gravitas, with its gloss black chassis and classic round, glass-topped keys, producing a beautiful and clear typeface.
One of the earliest portable models, it has a good weight, so it won’t be going anywhere as you type but with its compact footprint isn’t such a huge machine to dominate your desk.
It has been oiled, cleaned and checked for complete functionality. Aside from all the keys which you will see in the close up of the keyboard, the lever to the top front left switches ribbon direction when it reaches its end on one side, the lever to the right is for switching between black and red ink.
This typewriter is in remarkably good condition for its age, and has clearly been cherished throughout its long life. It’s incredibly clean and free of the often seen dust, ash and hair so often found amongst the interiors of older typewriters!
A new black and red selectable ribbon has been installed, so the machine will arrive carefully packed and ready to type your next piece!
No WiFi to distract you when you’re typing on this, just a century of sheer industrial beauty!
This typewriter has an excellent wooden case. Though the black rexine is torn in places, structurally it is sound and has great brass latches and its solid padded leather handle is in superb condition.
Measures 26cm wide X 28cm deep X 12cm tall at the back.
