Late 1800s green and gilt compartmented cash tin by Jones Brothers & Co of Wolverhampton

An antique, late 1800s cash tin in dark green with gilt decoration, cast brass handle and twin tray insert.

Stamped to the inside of the lid, Jones Brothers & Co of Wolverhampton who made metal wars for the home and office from the mid 19th century. From the logo (Two Brothers) we can deduce this one was produced after 1872 when the third brother, Henry, died but before the second a few years later.

With a combination of its attractive green and gilt colourway, high quality, very heavy build, and classically Victorian shaped brass handle this is a very attractive, good sized tin with a hinged lid and raised twin tray insert for coins.

The key is no longer present.

Measures 25cm wide X 16cm deep X 9cm tall.
