c.1920s large heavy leather suitcase, belonging to a Captain Lusty, with beautiful patina and travel labels stamped New Bond St London

A large, heavy, solid leather c.1920s suitcase with monogram, a wonderful patina and many travel labels, by Williams & Compy, 41 New Bond Street, London.

With its exclusive New Bond Street address stamped near the top of the base of the case, this would’ve been a high end piece of luggage for a well to do person.

That person it seems, was a Captain PB Lusty. The case, unusually, is lined in tan leather, as opposed to canvas or other cheaper material. Also unusually, this antique suitcase still has its original key for the locking latches.

The leather has a gorgeous patina, varying in shade and pattern from use and wear and over the decades, and is very heavy in itself. Perhaps easier to use as storage or decor than to travel with!

Various remnants of travel labels include evidence Captain Lusty traveled to Australia and New Zealand.

It has been fed with leather balsam to nourish, condition and protect the leather.

It would make a stylish traveling companion and also could be used as storage at home for shoes, bed sheets, DVDs or a display case for your accessories. It could also be placed in a stylish stack, great for a bar, café or hotel with bonus internal storage for all those bits normally piling up in the lounge…

This case measures 68cm X 41cm X 17cm.
