Art Deco 1930s British Rediffusion radio speaker *not working – for decor only*
A superb looking Art Deco early 1930s British Rediffusion radio speaker in a dark wood case with golden grille.
With strong geometric shapes and burgundy Bakelite knob (with the name Rediffusion on its front) this piece has a really iconic period look.
It would have originally been used as a speaker with on/off/volume, taking the signal from a remote master.
This radio speaker is not in a functional state and would need to be fully restored by a professional technician familiar with radios from this period in order to function.
The front and top of this radio speaker had many scratches and the veneer to the front was flaking. It has been stripped, filled where necessary, given two coats of black shellac lacquer made by myself using a broken shellac 78 record (by The Ink Spots), then a coat of oil and wax to finish.
Perfect as a piece of decor for the home, shop or business, or as a prop for stage or screen.
32cm tall X 28cm wide X 16cm deep at the base.
