Antique 19th century brass coal or log bucket, large brass planter dated 1862

An attractive brass antique coal or log bucket.

This studded brass container has been pierced by the maker, in an attractive font. What I believe to be his name, though I can’t quite make out, then the year he made it, 1862.

This is if course great by the fire for coal or logs, but could also be used as a great planter for a large plant, for shoes, umbrellas…

Some of the rim has come away a little and there is a small hole in the base. Please see photos close up.

A century or more of patina gives the bucket a deep bronze, but if you prefer the brass could be cleaned to a glowing bright golden tone.

35cm approx. diameter X 32cm tall.
