19th century folk art ship diorama
A wonderful folk art nautical diorama dating from circa late 19th century.
A larger ship with its rigging flanked by two smaller vessels, that to the bottom left initialled to the sails by the creator.
On a wavy clay sea, the slightly sagging halyards, the evident hours of dedication, the keen, naive paintwork all combine to make a charming piece made with love.
The scrollwork design applied to the sides and the outer panels incredible cracked paintwork which only occurs with great age.
A great little example of dedication and heart.
