1960s G Plan tall cabinet, 1960s teak storage, display, desk, drinks cabinet…

A gorgeous mid century teak late 1960s G Plan tall multi section cabinet.

***Shipping is not included, it is by collection or courier. Please read details at the bottom of this section***

This fantastic unit not only looks great but has the benefit of having a large amount of storage, in an extremely compact footprint. Not everyone has plenty of free horizontal wall space, but everyone has a couple of metres of height.

There is storage behind doors for your necessary but less pretty things, or perhaps your bottles and glasses, and open shelves for books or display items. Then there is a large, deep base section.

The shelves can easily be removed, so the bottom cabinet can perfectly fit 12″ records and the central open shelf can be removed to fit, for example plants. The shelves can also be raised or lowered with their support pins.

As a drinks cabinet, bottles can be kept up high and or in the base, with glasses on the shelves and accessories behind the fold forward door.

It also works beautifully as a bureau or desk, with plenty of space for books, stationery a laptop and more, and the fall forward door is the perfect size compact desk surface for a laptop and coffee etc. It can then be folded away at the end of the working day and then you can grab a bottle from the top shelf!

Beautifully minimalist and unfussy, the pull handles are all hidden ridges beneath, above or to the side, leaving uninterrupted flat panels of the most rich and warm coloured teak wood.

This piece belonged to a single owner since it was bought new by her in the late 1960s.

The unit can be split into two sections (at the parts of different depths) by unscrewing two metal joining strips at the back. This helps when transporting around the house, bit you could also choose to use the two sections separately in different parts of the room or house.

The sliding doors to the bottom cabinet are cleverly designed so that they sit flush at the front together when closed, and when slid open on their brown plastic runners, one slides diagonally back then behind the other.

Beside the everpresent speckles of white emulsion which have been scraped off, this cabinet is in excellent condition for over half a century of use. It does have two small chips in the veneer, one by the floor, the other in the top left corner and there is a hairline crack in the fold forward section. See group photo.

This is a wonderful piece in a rich and warm teak with G Plan’s stylish, simple and unfussy midcentury design.

The G Plan red label is present, on the inside of the right to door as pictured.

Should you be interested in a matching pair of these cabinets, please message before ordering.

The measurements are 198cm tall X 76.5cm wide, 46cm deep at base (26.5cm at upper sections).

***Due to the size and weight of the cabinet it will be sent by courier from Cardiff. You may also of course collect it or arrange a courier yourself.
