A beguiling fencing mask made circa 1920s by the renowned fencing equipment maker Leon Paul of 39 Neal Street, London.
A well known French fencing dynasty; Leon Paul (1881-1963) himself coached world champions and four generations later his ancestors are still dueling today.
According to a fencer, due to the design this is for épée fencing. It retains its original makers label and has the name of the previous owner, G.C. Pye to the reverse.
An interesting and striking piece of historic sporting decor, which can hang by the fine black cord attached or be placed on a plinth or shelf.
