***Shipping is not included, it is by collection or courier. Please read details at the bottom of this section***
With classically late Victorian neo gothic style, with its four pierced trefoils on the rail and A-shaped legs.
In 1876 Lord Lovat passed the land at the site to the Benedictine Fathers who wanted to establish a monastery in Scotland. Large parts of the Abbey including the church were designed by Peter Paul Pugin, son of A.W. Pugin who designed Westminster Abbey amongst others. Principal furniture and fittings such as this bench would often be designed by the architect for grand projects such as this, and therefore Pugin likely designed this bench.
Great for a long hallway, or perhaps with shoes beneath asking an entranceway wall, this is useful furniture of grand scale and if a grand design typical of the late 19th century when it was created.
This substantial, solid pitch pine bench measures 351cm X 52cm tall X 35cm deep.
