An impressive 1960s original oil on canvas of a mountain landscape of Bezau in Western Austria.

Painted with beautiful detail, on the photographic execution of shadows, impressionistic blossoms, and incredible attention to detail on the mountains, and a really authentic and warming reproduction of the sunlight on rooftops, this is a fantastic painting.

Painted by Sidley Tilbrook (1905-1977), and English painter of whom it isn’t easy to trace the career online, and seemed largely unrecognised in his lifetime. it’s therefore highly likely that no prints of this picture exist and that this is a complete one off, never to be seen elsewhere.

The frame is very much of its time, and I have grown to appreciate it alongside the picture. This could of course easily be reframed, though I believe this frame was chosen by the artist himself, as it is a 1960s frame, and the painting is dated ’67.
