Midcentury Swedish String modular cabinet by Nisse & Kajsa Strinning

A midcentury modular String shelving system with two cabinets and a shelf designed by Nisse and Kajsa Strinning.

Designed by the Swedish architects in 1949, the String cabinet predated the Ladderax system, more common in the UK, by 15 years.

This piece consists of two teak cabinets, the one shown lower in the photos has a fall front with key. The previous owner kept a record player and records in there so the holes were made for cables and there are internal pieces which can be placed back in if required for dividing records.

Above is a shelf which measures 78.5cm X 20cm deep.

To the top is a teak framed cabinet with sliding glass doors and a stylish triangular glass shelf which can be set at various heights and flipped in either direction. This inner shelf measures 5cm-25cm deep.

Both cabinets and the shelf have unique fold up hooks so the pieces can be hung in any order and the heights you desire on the rail pieces to both sides.

All the various fittings that were used by the previous owner are included.

Both cabinets measure 78.5cm wide X 42cm tall X 34.5cm deep.
