Midcentury bagatelle – early pinball game
A lovely smaller, tabletop example of the traditional English Bagatelle game in beech wood, with a bell!
A forerunner of pinball, you can see where that arcade game got its name, with simply produced cups and bumpers for the ball to land in it be redirected by, made from an array of pins or nails.
Amongst them sit holes alongside a printed number of points.
Though earlier examples have sticks with which to push the balls up the channel, this one has a sprung pull which fires the balls up and away.
It also has a bell, should you get the ball into the central section, where you will be awarded with a tiny ‘ding’ and 100 points.
The board is slightly raised at the top so the balls run down into the area of play.
Great bit of family fun for young and old.
