Superb early 1970s British Hacker Sovereign III radio with excellent full sound
A fantastic British Hacker radio from 1973, working well with a fantastic, very powerful sound.
This radio is a Sovereign III with model number RP72.
In a black and silver colourway, with solid wood sides, this large vintage radio has a big, full sound thanks to top end British audio engineering. Founded in Maidenhead, England by brothers Ron and Arthur Hacker in 1959, the company traded successfully until 1977.

‘The stated Hacker philosophy was to focus on technical performance rather than cost, and words to this effect are frequently found in printed material from the time…it is widely accepted among vintage radio enthusiasts that the build quality is higher than most similar sets from the same era’
It has an aerial that extends up to a whopping 85cm which can be lengthened and angled to any position to get the best reception.
Another feature of this radio is the rotating round base, meaning it can be turned in any direction you need the sound to travel.
This radio runs on its UK 3 pin power adapter which is included, or 8 x size D batteries.
This is in excellent condition all around.
