Superb Dansette 1960s red and cream Senator Record Player, fully serviced in excellent working order – PAT tested

An excellent fully functional Dansette record player made in England in the 1960s with a Monarch deck.

A fantastic bright red ‘Senator’ model with cream sides, and silver tone latches and front knobs and the original Dansette metal tag to the handle. All the original badges are present and in good condition.

The iconic mid century style of the Dansette played a huge part of great British audio and social history during the 1950s and 60s, and these players were the quintessential way of listening to some of the greats of the era of swathes of switched on youth.

Serviced and restored, this example has been brought back to its former glory with work including replacement of parts in addition to a full strip down and mechanical service. Every exterior part has also been carefully cleaned.

Aside from its great style and vintage sound, this player has fantastic features.

By placing the overarm over the 12″ or 7″ record and sliding the lever over to Auto, the turntable starts rotating, the record drops and the tonearm settings across and gently drops at the beginning of the record. At the end of the record the tonearm will return to its cradle.

Particularly useful when listening to short 7″ records, up to about 10 records can be placed over the spindle and every time a record comes to its end (or Auto is selected in the middle of a record), the arm swings across, the next record drops and plays.

To the front is a minimal design with two large dials to the right of the fabric grille, on/off/volume, and tone.

It is worth noting that this model isn’t the loudest of record players, if you require high volumes this is not the one, but for playing casually at home it is enough.

A beautiful midcentury piece of musical history, lovingly professionally restored and brought back to life again.

This has been PAT tested in December 2024.

This record player measures 38cm wide X 37cm front to back and 22cm tall.
