Spectacular Windsor comb back arm chair with burr Elm seat, Ash and Yew
Ash, elm and yew wood comb back Windsor chair
A spectacular burr Elm and Ash with Yew wood comb back Windsor arm chair.
***Shipping is not included, it is by collection or courier. Please read details at the bottom of this section***
A stunning craftsman made, one-off of the genre, this chair, full of wonderful details is in fantastic condition.
The chair is in Ash to the legs, arms, spindles and top rail. With the seat traditionally adzed-carved in Elm, bit in this fine example in burr Elm, a hardwood with a glorious wide grain, with the rarer burr giving it the beautiful swirling contours of grain.
With a particularly high spindle back with a unique carved rail with upturned corners and a very stylish dynamically shaped relief.
The legs are chamfered to an octagonal profile, united by an H stretcher with a simply turned centre rail.
A particularly special detail is the pair of turned spindles beneath the arm ends in a lovely yellowish and very strong Yew wood.
This is a very special example of a mid twentieth century comb back Windsor chair; incredibly well built with a range of beautiful timbers, stylishly finished this is a piece of sculpture in your home, and it’s also comfortable to sit in.
Measures 117cm tall X 58cm at widest to the outsides of the arms. The seat is 45cm in height at the front and 52.5cm wide x 43.5cm deep. The maximum depth of the chair is 56cm.
*** Due to the size and weight of this item it will be sent by courier from Cardiff. You may also of course collect it or arrange a courier yourself.
