Regency 1820s-30s antique mahogany chest of drawers with splayed feet

A wonderful antique mahogany chest of drawers dating from the 1820s-30s.

Of solid mahogany from top to bottom (with solid oak drawer bases), this attractive chest of 3 substantial drawers has the wonderful look of aged wood which has plenty of character to its surfaces. It has been professional restored, involving a full French polish of the surfaces and a filling and colour matching of a scraper in one side (see close up in relevant group photo).

The chest has several Regency period features, from the cock beading to the circumferences of the drawer fronts, and the wonderfully shaped frieze at the base, with the splayed legs which are typical of furniture of this era. The surround of the top is reeded in form and adds another layer of charm.

The original drop hoop handles are of brass which has darkened over the centuries. There are keyholes and locks but no key is present.

It has a wonderful warm colour with lots of she and character and the timber is of great quality.

The chest measures 89cm wide X 44.5cm deep X 86cm tall.
