Pair of French floral prints of early 19th C. flower illustrations, after J.L. Prevost in matching wooden frames

A pair of large, midcentury prints of complimentary early 19th century floral illustrations, with beautiful compositions of mixed floral bouquets in excellent matching, elegant, stained pine glazed frames.

This beautifully executed floral illustration from which the print is made is by renowned botanical artist Jean Louis Prevost. He studied under Jean Jacques Bachelier in Paris and created one of the most exquisite French botanical works, Collection des Fleurs et des Fruits (1805) He often had his work exhibited in the Paris Salon and was a member of the Academie de Saint Luc.

The illustrations show roses, foxgloves, lilacs, bluebells, peonies and pansies amongst others.
