Midcentury Lauffer wall clock with new quartz battery movement
A beautifully stylish midcentury 1950s wall clock made by Lauffer.
With a wooden frame with gold colour banding around the perimeter, brass chapter ring.
A superb looking piece with a golden hanger and hands, with an eye-catching shape and style. Great to kit out your home or business.
A professional clock restorer has fitted a new quartz movement but managed to retain the original hands. The original movement would have been an extremely costly repair and restoration, but now it can run and run on a single AA battery, without the need to remember to wind it every few days.
A hook to the rear allows it to hang on a screw in the wall, and a decorative front piece hides the screw.
It is in very good aesthetic shape, though there is some rusting to the hands and an aged patina to the metalwork. The name Lauffer is feint near the top of the face where probably a logo piece has come away from the face.
Measures 27cm at its widest X 25cm high excluding the hanger X 7cm deep.
A fantastically shaped midcentury time piece, which will last many decades to come.
