Midcentury French Majolica Vallauris Fish dish

A midcentury ceramic fire glaze Majolica fish dish dating from 1960s.

Though there is no stamp visible to the base, this appears to be Vallauris pottery from the south east of France. The area has a long history of pottery making which became fashionable in the middle of the last century when Picasso lived there and created ceramics of his own.

The colourway with flashes of bright red with white and greens on a highly textural ground.

This very large dish is in impeccable condition from top to bottom.

The dimensions are: 45cm wide X 29cm deep X 9.5cm tall.
