Matthieu Matégot 1950s pierced metal tray

A 1950s black pierced steel Matégot tray.

Matthieu Matégot (1910-2001) was a French designer and material artist who was based in Paris and later Casablanca.

Much of his work was produced in editions of just 200 pieces. One of his principle calling cards was the perforated sheet metal in a particular pattern, as exemplarised in this piece.

A stylish tray ideal for keeping your desk tidy of stationery. Also good for small pieces in the bedroom, or perhaps keys in the hall.
