Pair of Plovers, early 1900s bird taxidermy
A wonderful pair of Plover birds taxidermy in a decorated wooden, glazed box.
The charming birds, perhaps male and female of the species are very similar and facing eachother with adorable eyes! Behind them are dried grasses and naturalistic gravel at the base.
There’s a little wobble in the left bird when the box is moved but everything is fixed well in place.
Dating from the early 1900s the pine case has warmed in tone over the years, and a dark paper covering is peeling in places in a very attractive way. The glass has waves in it rather than being completely flat like modern glass, showing it was blown and of the period, most likely original.
The case has a brass hoop to the reverse centre so this can even be wall mounted.
Case measures 34cm X 18.5cm X 8cm.
It ships within the UK only.
