Early Victorian English iron kettle
A wonderfully gnarly English iron stove kettle from c.mid-1800s, with trivet.
The pitted, rough textured body of this kettle give it a fantastically historic look evoking all the decades that have passed since it was made and the long, full and active life it has had.
As kitchen or fireside décor, particularly in an older home this old piece comes into its own.
The lid has long seized up and rusted onto the top of the kettle so cannot be removed. It could be filled from the spout.
There seems to be some lettering around the knop of the lid, as well as a badge to the shoulder, but I haven’t been able to make out any of it.
The trivet would have been made at a later date but suits the kettle quite well. You may prefer to use them separately.
A wonderful standout piece.
26cm tall including handle X 29cm wide from tip of spout to back of handle X 19cm body diameter.
