Fine Dunn & Co Ltd London vintage Bowler hat in leather case
A vintage Dunn & Co of London black bowler hat in great condition. With a board and leather bowler hat case with early century travel labels attached.
The interior is of very well kept black silk bearing the logo. The rim is in excellent blemish free condition and is of a soft roan leather.
It is a solid but fairly light hat which has retained its classic British bowler shape perfectly.

‘Dunn & Co. was founded in 1887 by George Arthur Dunn, a Quaker, who started by selling hats on the streets of Birmingham. Forty years later he had two hundred hat shops and as many franchises in other stores.’
The thick board case coated with black leather has kept the hat clean and protected over the decades in its lovely red lining.
The buckles and straps of the case are no longer intact, but it still serves to keep away dust etc and can be used with holding string to transport it. Though the leather has dried over the years, it has been fed with a good leather conditioner which has helped.
The case has a few original wonderful early 1900s travel labels to it, showing that it has travelled to Boulogne, a classy suburb of Paris, France at least once!

The hat measures 30.5cm tip to tail X 24cm wide. The interior measures 20cm front to back X 16cm wide X The circumference of the inner brim is 57cm. The case measures 37cm at the open top X 25cm at the base X 25cm tall.
