Ercol Elm and Beech midcentury rocking chair model 2056
A fantastic Ercol rocking chair, model 2056, with a hoop back and spindles.
***Shipping is not included, it is by collection or courier. Please read details at the bottom of this section***
The main body is of light, honey colour Beech wood, and the seat an absolutely beautiful Elm. A darker hardwood with a glorious grain.
It’s impossible to mistake the inimitable class and style of midcentury Luciano Ercolani who was based in High Wycombe, England.
With its narrow, curved forms, it is minimal in design but wholly comfortable and embracing in use.
The varnish on this chair was unfortunately flaking when I sourced it, but it has been French Polished by a professional furniture restorer all over.
The original blue Ercol sticker is still present to the back of the seat but has faded over time.
It has a cushion to the seat, with birds and flowers on it, and its straps (one fraying) and poppers to attach it under the seat. The cushion cover has a zip, so you could reupholster the cushion pad if you prefer, or use it as a reference to make new. I prefer it best with all the wood visible, without any cushion.
This chair is fantastic in the lounge, and rocks best on non-carpeted floors. Also nice to have in a larger kitchen, or a diving room or conservatory. Great to sling your clothes on in the bedroom or to rock yourself to sleep on…
Measures 85cm tall X 64cm wide to the outsides of the arms X 70cm deep at the legs. The seat is 37cm in height at the front.
***Due to the weight and particularly the size of the chair it will be sent by courier from Cardiff. You may also of course collect it or arrange a courier yourself. Shipping by courier arranged by us is to be paid by the buyer directly to the courier on delivery. A price will be arranged by us in advance with a courier we have used many times and agreed with the buyer before confirmation. This cost will be very reasonable as the regular courier gets a lot of work from us. Buyer’s contact details will be passed to the courier with their permission in order to arrange a suitable delivery day and time.***
