Early 1900s felt cutting device for the piano maker by G.F. Baker, London – as key hooks

A charming, compact little device, invented and crafted by G.F. Baker in his workshop on King’s Cross Road, West London, with a brass pin hook, perfect for keys!

It would have originally, according to a leading exponent on the construction of pianos and their associated tools, been used as a jig for cutting felt for use under parts of the strings, under keys and in the pedal trapwork.

Today it’s perfect for the hallway as a place for your keys, particularly for the music or piano lover in your life.

There are several moving parts on this item, two of them ideal for hanging keys from… perhaps you can think of something else it could be used for. The bottom wooden finger slides out, and the piece at the top with the long gap can hang on a screw or nail in the wall.

It measures 19cm tall X 4.5-5cm wide X 5-6.5cm deep.
