c.17th century Italian wooden flower on later stand
A beautiful antique, believed Italian, wooden carved flower believed originating from a very large, old, circa 17th century picture frame.
Beautifully carved with shaped petals, a little of the original gilding on the flower is still present but it has mostly worn away. There is evidence of historic woodworm too.
At some stage it has been mounted on a metal pole going into a triangular footed base, painted with now faded yellow, white and gold, it has a wonderful leaf design and patina.
Measures 47cm tall X 25cm diameter at the base.
