Antique Tramp Art hinged box
A fantastic ‘Tramp Art’ hinged lid box lined with deep red fabric.
The style of chip carving, often of boxes and picture frames originated in America toward the end of the 19th century, but was produced all over often by amateurs who had a penknife and a cigar box and a desire to create something.
This striking example is symmetrically carved and with lots of layered detail and flourishes. It looks great from every angle.
Part of one foot is missing. It still stands evenly.
21cm X 12cm X 8cm.
