Antique French Pastis water jug
A traditional French ceramic Pastis water jug.
With a lovely yellow ground with a green drip glaze with berries and the hand painted ‘Pastis’ to the front.
Pastis is a French anise based spirit which replaced Absinthe when it was banned in the early 20th century. Its mixer is water which is added to the Pastis followed by ice, from a jug like this.
The jug could be used for water on the dining table, or with its spout it could also be put to use watering house plants.
This was sourced in the north west of France.
