1940s green alarm clock made by John D Francis

A beautiful looking alarm clock dating from the late 1940s-early 50s in full working order.

In the most wonderful shade of green, this wind up alarm clock was made in Britain by John D Francis Ltd at his Liverpool workshop some time following the second world war.

The clock has been oiled on its moving parts with a little clock oil to keep it running smoothly.

It has been tested on one wind and ran for over 33 hours so this would have a ’30 hour movement’. The idea with these movements is to wind them every day (at about the same time so it’s easier not to forget!) but the additional few hours gives some leeway.

The alarm in this design of clock rather than a bell, hammers the inner rim of the case.  This produces a rattling sound which is not the most sonorous, but is plenty noisy enough to wake you up, without any doubt.

This is a great looking clock with its stylish gold Art Deco numerals and a lovely off-white face.

A stylish little working gem of a timepiece by a renowned English mid century clock maker.

This clock measures 10.5cm tall X 9.5cm x 4.5cm deep.
