1930s English Art Deco desk clock
A stylish 1930s Art Deco desk clock in full working order.
Named to the face Henlys’ Ball this clock was perhaps a gift or prize from a ballroom, in 1935.
With its (worn now) chrome finish, square shape, and squared off numerals and quintessentially Art Deco hands this clock is very evocative of that period.
Unusually for a clock this age, each number has its 24 hour time equivalent in a small font beneath it.
I have tested the cock which runs on one wind for 27.5 hours, so it is a one day movement with the typical little bit of leeway.
To the reverse is the folding stand, the winder and the time setting knob (a later replacement). It also has a sliding adjuster to speed or slow the clock movement for greater accuracy.
This clock measures 11cm X 9.5cm.
