c.1950s Denoyer-Geppert Co. Medical Anatomical Model
A lifesize midcentury, anatomical teaching model of a man, revealing all the organs, muscles and veins, with removable, numbered parts.
Initial signed to the reverse F.M.K., for ‘master sculptor and anatomical model maker’ Franz M. Kieferle who made the piece for Denoyer-Geppert Company in Chicago, USA, as stamped to the front of the left thigh.
This instructive educational model, likely used at a university Biology department, is made from a hard plastic, coloured to represent the relevant organs, which are placed and removed by fitting into gaps and on many pieces with metal hooks.
The man is mounted on a two part wooden base on which it can rotate.
In very good condition throughout, considering its circa 70-80 years of age. There has been a split to the back of the neck which has been visibly repaired, see photos. This is not visible from the front.
A fascinating and striking piece of educational medical history.
93cm X 44cm X 26cm.
