Punu mask replica from Gabon
A substantial Punu mask, originating from Gabon, with horns, a traditional kaolin surface, and bold facial features.
A later reproduction, though still with some age, in the traditional style but probably not a used tribal mask, this nevertheless has a powerful, commanding yet quiet presence.
Masks of this style were used by the Punu ethny (tribe) in Gabon, in the centre of the continent, on the west coast as part of initiation dance ceremonies.
I have tied on a string for mounting, but this is easily removed if preferred.
Measures 43cm tall X 21cm wide X 15cm deep.
