Large antique copper bowl, Channel Islands Bachin
A wonderful antique rustic copper dish with a wide, decorated brim, contrasted with the dark base exterior.
Likely having come from the Channel Islands, this ‘Bachin’ or basin would have originally been used in the 1800s to hold water, or used for the preparation of ‘black butter’, a Jersey apple based conserve.
Battered and pitted from a long life of use, this is a great standalone piece with its glowing copper surfaces, hand formed over a century ago, and a complete one-off this deep bowl is oozing character.
Great for fruit, candles glowing against the golden insides on a sideboard, a plant or two, or as an attractive standalone piece.
45cm top diameter X 14cm tall.
