Large 19th century stoneware ink pot by James Stiff of Lambeth
A very attractive 19th century stoneware ink pot of unusually large proportions, with a wonderful purple spotted glaze.
Lambeth, South London was a hub for the production of stoneware, and James Stiff and Sons was established in 1843 on the high street and was renowned for producing wares of the highest quality.
A really unique pot, I’ve never seen one with this mesmerising colour. Looks great with a stem in it but substantial enough to stand alone.
26cm tall X 11cm diameter.
