Smith Premier Chum Portable typewriter, made in 1930s in excellent working order, original case and new ribbon

This Smith Premier Portable typwriter is a beautiful and fully functional antique and is in a excellent working and cosmetic condition with its iconic round keys and high gloss black japanned finish typical of quality apparatus of the early 20th century.

This is a fantastic vintage typewriter with classic 30s design (not 20s as in the typed example!), which has been cleaned, oiled and given a brand new extra high quality ribbon which gives superior prints quality, and is ready to write the next great novel, and will even print it for you as you go! It prints solid, full characters, every one showing clearly.

These are lovely machines to use, to collect and to use as décor in the home or office.

Smith Premier was founded in 1889 in New York.

The original case has a latch and brown leather handle. If it is not being transported often, you may prefer the aesthetic of the typewriter alone without the wooden base, and you can unscrew the typewriter from its base from above, and just place the cover over the top when not in use to fend off dust.

These endearingly named and relatively scarce Smith Premier ‘Chum’ typewriters were made in the UK from American parts.

The serial number is SV418258, and was made circa 1935.

It measures approx. 30cm deep X 25cm wide X 10cm tall.
