Rare 1940s Ivory colour telephone in excellent condition
A truly wonderful early design classic, this is a striking ivory colour rotary dial telephone made in Great Britain in the 1940s and working.
All the British GPO telephones were produced in black but much fewer were produced in the Ivory colourway. The majority of these, because of the material tend to be in quite poor condition, but this example is in fantastic condition, with no warping or disintegration or anything else to the plastic body or parts.
This model is variant of the 232 which was made available from 1946. The full specification as given on the base is 1/232F S55/2.
With the early original fabric cord and wall cable which is currently a French connection, which was where this was last used by the previous owner. Prior to that he used it in his home in London.
A fantastic near-antique piece of social history and a very attractive piece to decorate your study, hallway, lounge, bar, shop or business, whether or not it is used.
The phone measures 18cm wide X 13.5cm deep at the base (15.5cm to the front knob) X 15.5cm tall.
